What’s this all about?

Our language (English) is the glue that sticks us together as people…helps us understand each other and understand what's happening around us. It's probably how language works in any country…English, French, German, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Latin, Chinese, whatever.

When something is so important, it's critical that we do our best — every day, speaking and writing — to foster its use.

Most of us have probably been drilled in proper grammar during elementary and secondary school. But, somewhere along the line into adulthood, we have become sloppy in the use of our priceless language…grammar, spelling, pronunciation, and punctuation.

This blog is focused on calling attention to our language errors so that we can work together to correct them.

I have a friend (a professional writer) who calls me a "grammar nazi."  Probably because she thinks that I'm too structured (conservative) about how we should speak and write. But I accept that title as a high compliment, because our language matters — and we should do our best to get it right.
