Plural vs. Singular

Russell Athletic Commercial

Russell Athletic is airing a TV commercial that declares "team is plural". That's a nice idea for inspiring teamwork, a good line for a commercial. But "team" is a singular noun; "team" is not plural.

Any team is made up of individuals, of course; but only when they come together as a cohesive unit do they constitute a true team. Hence, "team" is singular…with plural components.

Nice work, Russell…good idea for your self-promotion efforts. But you're grammatically wrong.
