Shameless Attention

A worthwhile experiment

This might make me appear desperate, but I'm curious to see what topics push your buttons…things that we can discuss on our blog. If we can come together on these things, you guys will deliver loads of other kindred spirits to our grammar/language huddle.

This is not a grammar challenge; it's a lifestyle and attitude probe. We can deal with the grammar stuff later.

So far, I'm thinking we might be able to connect somewhere here:  pizza, mashed potatoes, stews and soups, casseroles, pancakes, pasta/macaroni, chili, chocolate, meatloaf, peanut butter, cheese, comfort foods.

Tell me where we should start. We all love tomatoes!

Afterglow

Basking in the sun

We're still basking in the glow of our MVB award…"Editor's Choice".  It confirms the importance of our commitment to the English language, and feels so good.

“no problem”

Whatever happened to "You're welcome," "My privilege," "It has been a pleasure," or "Happy to be of service"?

One of the most annoying things I encounter daily in today's human interaction is the response "no problem".

I think we all have noticed…in stores, supermarkets, gas stations, and with doormen…when we appreciate the service we say, "Thanks" or "Thank you."  And the response we get is "No Problem."

It rankles my neighbor (a retired school teacher from New York), and it rankles me. Where in the world did that come from? It's ignorant and offensive. It has no grace.
