Weird Words Master
You pride your tennis commentary with weird words and expressions (private-joke vocabulary). But you should probably devote more time to cleaning up your basic grammar.
Smugness without correctness shouldn't be celebrated.
We often hear one of the cooking-show people ask, "How long do you cook this FOR."
What-the-hell is "FOR" about?! How long we cook it is how long we cook it. There's no "FOR" in the equation. The question should simply be, "How long do you cook this?" What does "FOR" bring to the party?
As a Midwestern citizen, I had never heard this aberration until recently on network television. Is this idiotic language something native to New York or other east-coasters?
Whatever the source, it sounds so stupid!
