Eliminating “y’know”

What would happen…?

What would happen if we could eliminate "y'know" from Christ Evert's verbal commentary about the U.S. Open?

She might become speechless.

Creativity

Something we all seem to admire, respect, and want to possess; but often call extremely creative people "crackpots".

Please excuse me for digressing briefly from classic grammar matters:

The word "crackpot" sounds cool, but it isn't associated with someone we usually think of as "normal". We often call such people "goofy" or "eccentric". Nevertheless, I hope we all know at least one somebody…friends, neighbors, business associates, relatives; because they are the backbone of much creativity and innovation.

They deserve respect and admiration. And they also deserve our money…investing in their ideas.

A valuable discussion about creativity was produced for the Charlie Rose Show on Public Television:

One of the things the show reveals is that some of our most creative individuals have a type  of brain disorder that probably enhances their abilities to do great work.

“prolly” vs. “probably”

Heard too often

I can understand children mispronouncing this common word ("probably") — but an adult?!

What's wrong with an adult who says "PROLLY"?
